Back to work...

After a truly wonderful long weekend at the beach, we're back to work and school.
I always have a bit of a long weekend hangover after time away from the usual work/family/house routine, and this one was no different. We are about to start the truly terrifying process of renovating our house, so the combination of bank wrangling and work stuff is making me feel quite dizzy and fractious?

Anyway, in more upbeat news, I have started to wear 'proper' shoes at work again! I'm not wearing them to walk to work or to go across campus, but when I'm in my office or performing, I'm now doing it in shoes!!

Monday's outfit: rather casual for me, but it was chilly and I hadn't had time to sort things out. J Crew shirt, Top Shop jeans and Repetto flats. I wore a navy linen APC blazer too, but took it off and forgot to photograph it.

Bright houndstooth for today. J Crew Pixilated Houndstooth skirt, Navy Zara v neck knit and L'Autre Chose sandals.

Random pink scarf from somewhere

It's so exciting wearing real shoes again! I also started back at my usual Pilates class. I'm hoping that I'll be cleared to do yoga again soon. I'm REALLY missing my practice.

Hope you're having a good week. I'm on a No-J-Crew-shopping-for-one-month challenge. Do you reckon I'll manage it?

  1. Love the houndstooth in pink. J Crew got it really right there. Don't go too crazy with shoes and whip out some 4 inch heels or anything like that though!! but at least you can do yoga again but be careful there as well bc tree pose might all of a sudden be strenuous!

    1. The houndstooth is fab... It made me feel so cheerful today every time I looked down at it.
No chance of 4" heels - don't think I've got any over 3" and I struggle to walk in even that height!
Yoga will be hard, but I've been doing a few things over the past few weeks, and I'll be patient. Hope the weather is improving for you??

  2. No I don't think you'll manage it, but good luck!! Love all your outfits - I want that houndstooth skirt for myself!! Congrats on the real shoes, must be nice to be out of the runners... any new shoe purchases on the horizon? Good luck with the reno. Spent much of today sorting through payments and instructing the builder on things. Not much fun really..... xx

    1. Haha! You may be right.... I don't really like a lot of the summery J Crew stuff, so you never know... I may manage my own version of 'Miserly May'!
No new shoes, as I've got my new Fendi ones and the suede boots to play with.
However, I did spy a very gorgeous pair of Nicolas Kirkwood low-heeled pumps on NAP. But seriously, our budget needs some discipline. Especially with the renovation plans. I'm dreading it to tell the truth. I admire your renovating spirit! You've done it before and you're game to do it again!

  6. That stripe boy shirt is totally on my list after I tried it on yesterday. I didn't buy is yet but probably will soon. I've just been buying like crazy lately and I need to slow it down. I may steal your idea to wear with my pixelated skirt. Love it with the scarf. So happy to see you are in real shoes!

    1. Thanks SC! I highly recommend the shirt. It's lovely fabric and a great basic.
It's hard to slow cow on the shopping, isn't it? A friend was commenting the other day that shopping on the J Crew site was a bit like hitting the 'like' button on Facebook or Instagram. It sort of doesn't really feel like shopping at all....!!

  7. That houndstooth skirt looks fabulous on you! It's such a cheerful spring color. Good luck with your shopping hiatus. I did the same recently for over a month. Coming off that I allowed myself a splurge on some new arrivals during the sitewide sale. Me bad.

  8. Both are great outfits, you look so good in them. I will root for you on the shopping ban, on somewhat of one myself. I almost went for that shirt but realize I have one similar in silk.

    1. Thanks so much, Tiffany Rose! A silk version sounds divine - was that from last year?

    2. On me, the shirt is more like a tunic but I'll wear it at some point for you to see ;) The tag says HO 11 but I probably bought it last year, I tend to buy things way after the season on sale.
