The shoe saga concludes and old school J Crew

Today the replacement shoes from Net-à-Porter arrived and I decided to keep the size 37s.
Considering I'm usually a 35 or 36, it's safe to say that they do not run 'true to size' as the NAP website claims.
Anyway, the size 36.5 are going back for a refund and I'm now the proud own of a pair of cobalt blue pumps, complete with built in foot gels to make them more comfy:

Excuse the poor light. They are a far more vibrant shade in better light.
I doubt these will ever be my comfiest shoes, but they do lift my spirits and make me smile.
Here they are with a J Crew Tippi, and an old school (by my standards) pencil skirt from Summer 2011.

The shoes are almost exactly the same shade as the sweater.

Here's a pic same with black tights and Fendi shoes.

And a final (very dark and rubbish) shot of the shoes.

Phew. I'm glad I've made up my mind to keep them. They are a great winter mood enhancer!

How's your week going? Any excitement or new shoes?

  1. I love them - good decision on the foot gels too. Those things are Gold! They do fit in nicely to your wardrobe, I'm sure you'll be pulling them out a lot to wear. What a saga with the sizing though... that's one reason why I'm generally fairly reluctant with shoes on the net. My new pink Dior ones are probably a half size too big, but they feel comfortable, and the design means you can't notice, and they're secure on my feet, so I'm keeping them!

    1. The foot gels are a great idea, but I would love to know who on earth thinks that shoes like this are great to wear 'all day and night'! Or maybe I'm just old and intolerant of discomfort these days.
      I've very happy with them.
So glad your lovely shoes fit too. Every time you feel stressed about the windows I think you should put them on, or at least look at them!

I had an Internet shopping drama today- my Gorman skirt still had its security tag attached!

    1. Oh no, Cilla! How annoying! Can you take it to a store to get it removed?

  4. Congrats on the shoe achievement - and I love the skirt. In fact, my quest to get that skirt after I'd made up my mind too late to just grab it somewhere was epic, but the good guys won in the end.

    1. Thanks WFF! I had to stalk the skirt too. It was my first ever JC purchase just after they started shipping internationally. I was so pleased to get it that I almost forgave them the almost 40% price mark-up!

  5. Hi Ruth, I'm glad you finally got the right size for the shoes! They look excellent, definitely worth the trouble. No new shoes here - I need to sell off a few pairs before I let myself buy a new pair.

    1. Thanks Louise! I feel like a contents hunter, finally at home with my prey!
I should try to sell some shoes too, but I have great difficulties parting with shoes....

  6. I can't see the color very well but if they are the same as your sweater, no wonder you love them. I have that skirt too and I outgrew it!! Curses! lol

  7. Ruth, these are GORGEOUS and look great on your feet. Actually, your whole outfit is just perfect. I hate breaking in shoes, but these look so worth it. Can't wait to see what else you pair them with. After all, you have one of the most admirable closets out there!

    1. Thanks AB! You are very kind! My wardrobe isn't that admirable, just a bit extended due to my slight hoarding tendencies and years of being clothes-obsessed!
I'm looking forward to wearing the shoes soon!

  8. Hey Ruth.....Yeaah you got the shoes! It's amazing how much of a mood enhancer shoes can be, especially when you place them next to all the other shoes you don't need LOL. Unfortunately it's been a while since I last bought a pair of shoes and certainly from Net, but I have a little mini break coming up, so what better excuse to go shopping!

  9. I can't survive most heels nowadays without some sort of insole - do you use a whole foot insert or just a ball of foot one?

    1. Hey Lisa, these pumps actually have them built in to the inner sole at the base of the foot - so just for the ball of the foot. Very clever, I thought!
I don't wear heels over 2" very often, so I'm not sure which would be better.
These Mulberry ones certainly seem quite comfy, though, compared to ones I've tried before!
