Family matters

I'm going offline for a while due to a family crisis.
My 82 year-old father fell down the stairs in their house on Friday and has broken his neck at C5.
While he's stable and in no danger, I need to withdraw from blogland for a while to support my mother and him.

I'll be back once things are clearer in terms of prognosis.

  22. Hi all,

Thank you so much for all the messages and thoughts. My father is still hanging on. I'll get back into the swing of posting soon, and will update soon.
It has been pretty exhausting for the last 3 weeks, with him having surgery on his spine, pneumonia due to aspirating food (he has dysphagia from the trauma) and he is still unable to sit up or move his left side.
Still, his spirits remain fairly positive despite his situation. I imagine he will stay in hospital for some time....
Many thanks for the comments and apologies for not replying to you all individually.
